Tam Dao in northern Vietnam is the reported locality of Selenocosmia kovariki. A Tam Dao district, national park, and town all bear the same name. They are located in a heavily forested, mountainous region 40 miles northwest of Hanoi. S. kovariki was described in 1995. In recent years it has become more widely available, presumably due to overseas captive breeding. Different shades of dark brown and yellow leg bands draw attention to this little-known, medium-sized terrestrial. S. kovariki is recommended for keepers and breeders of southeast Asian terrestrials. With a venom that is likely medically significant, use caution when feeding and moving this species.
