Acanthoscurria sp. “red” was introduced a few years ago. It was not widely available and that situation continues. As the species is very pretty, likely a second wave of spiderlings will come in the next few years. Unfortunately A. sp. “red” carries a name without locality information; hence, little is known about habitat. These two females, one about 2 1/2″ and the other about 3″, were raised from spiderlings in that first shipment. No special keeping requirements have been noted. The photo above shows the 3″ female easting a cricket (01.01.20), about 4 months after her last molt.
