Thrixopelma ockerti (Peruvian flame rump), captive bred. A medium-size, New World tarantula with a good appetite and moderately fast growth. Sea-blue base coloration with silver-white hairs and a reddish rump. Recommended for all experience levels.
From Peru comes Thrixopelma ockerti. When it was described in 1994 a new genus was necessary, making T. ockerti the type species for Thrixopelma. T. ockerti is a medium-size tarantula with a good appetite and moderately fast growth. In captivity it takes about 2 years to reach sexual maturity. Color is ocean blue, with silver-white hairs and a reddish rump.
