From Suriname, northeast South America, comes the dwarf terrestrial species Neostenotarsus sp. “Suriname.” Suriname is also home to Theraphosa blondi, a terrestrial with an affinity for moisture. Those who have seen N. sp. “Suriname” in the wild speak of finding them in damp soil under rocks and logs. While N. sp. “Suriname” can be kept in similar conditions in captivity, more conventional setups also work. Females reach a maximum size of about 3″, but most mature sexually at smaller sizes. Hardy and colorful, dwarf collectors will find N. sp. “Suriname” a unique addition to their collections.
