Thrixopelma ockerti (Peruvian flame rump), captive bred. A medium-size New World tarantula with a good appetite and moderately fast growth. Ocean blue with silver-white hairs and a reddish rump. Recommended for all experience levels.
From Peru comes Thrixopelma ockerti. When it was described in 1994 a new genus was created for it, making T. ockerti the type species for Thrixopelma. T. ockerti is a medium-sized tarantula with a good appetite and moderately fast growth rate. On average it takes about 2 years to reach sexual maturity in captivity. Color is ocean blue, with silver-white hairs and a reddish rump.
